In midsummer heat, most of us would be more comfortable in shorts. But sometimes it’s necessary to protect our legs from sun, sand, and bugs, or maybe long pants are required by your employer. That’s where the Summerweight Tactical Pant by Propper comes in handy.
The focus here is really on the material. These pants are made from an ultra-lightweight yet durable fabric. It’s worlds away from the heavy canvas tactical pants of old. Put them on for the first time and you’ll immediately see what I’m saying.
The other part of staying cool is staying dry. These pants wick moisture away from the body to help keep you comfortable.
Technically the fabric is 4.2 oz. of 94% nylon / 6% spandex ripstop. It’s just heavy enough to block 98% of UV radiation (UPF 50). The spandex gives stretch to the pant while the gusseted crotch allows for greater range of motion. Sit, squat, or lunge and these pants won’t put up a fight.
These wouldn’t be tactical pants without pockets. The Summerweight Pant gives you eleven of them. Each leg features a lie-flat cargo pocket and a zippered pocket. There are four pockets up front – two on each side – and zippered rear wallet pockets. Finally, a covert back pocket for ID or handcuff key.
Propper is known for quality at an affordable price. The Summerweight Pant is no exception. At under fifty bucks, it’s a good deal, too.
