adjective: relating to or resulting from motion.
I’m not much of a science guy. I’ve never taken a physics class. But I was aware of the term “kinetic energy.” It’s common in the shooting world because we need to know the kinetic energy of a bullet. Simply put, the kinetic energy of an object is the energy that it produces due to its motion. The word kinetic means relating to or resulting from motion.
So the Kinetic Pant by Propper is aptly named. These pants are all about motion. Run, jump, sit, lunge, or squat, these pants were made for it. Propper achieved this in two ways: design and material.
The design features a gusseted crotch. A gusset is a diamond shaped piece of fabric sewn into the crotch area creating freedom of movement and a more comfortable wearing experience. Another key design feature is the elastic slider waist. It’s a must for me. The pants fit whether I’m sitting or standing or wearing an inside-the-waistband holster or not.
The Kinetic Pant is made from a stretch fabric called NEXStretch. It’s really pretty cool. They’re stretchy but not yoga pant stretchy.
It’s a 2-way mechanical stretch fabric that’s really tough for everyday wear in harsh environments. It also looks normal. Heck, these pants qualify as a Class B Uniform. Propper applies a durable water repellent (DWR) treatment to resist dirt and moisture, too.
Now on to some of the other cool features that I may not have noticed unless told that they were there. The belt loops are wider. That’s nice. But they also have tabs sewn over the front belt loops to hold your sunglasses or badge/ID. The cargo pockets are really three pockets. There is a main compartment and two smaller compartments that are perfect for holding extra mags, a multitool, or an energy bar. The cargo pockets even have a pen pocket.
These pants are truly ambidextrous. All of the pockets on the left are also on the right. I hate it when I’m forced to keep my phone on the left because the pant manufacturer only puts a phone pocket there. Here I’m covered either way.
Lastly, the Kinetic Pant by Propper comes in six different colors. My favorite is charcoal. It’s a sharp color that is a perfect change from the khaki and olive that I usually wear. Oh, and at $54.99 there’s no reason not to give them a try.
